Inventory pooling and pricing decisions in multiple markets with strategic customers

چکیده
This study considers the pricing and inventory decisions for retailer selling in multiple markets with strategic customers. The impact of customer behavior on pooling is examined. equilibrium decisions, which customers tend to purchase early, are subsequently characterized pooled/non-pooled systems. Our results highlight role each market. Compared myopic customers, prone reduce its retailer’s optimal high-profit products lower pooled system than non-pooled system. However, result reversed low-profit products. analytical numerical simultaneously demonstrate that, condition, retailers’ increases correlation coefficient different markets, while profit decreases coefficient. There an opposite relationship condition. When less correlated, owns low but high profit. Moreover, always higher

Joint pricing, inventory, and preservation decisions for deteriorating items with stochastic demand and promotional efforts
This study models a joint pricing, inventory, and preservation decision-making problem for deteriorating items subject to stochastic demand and promotional effort. The generalized price-dependent stochastic demand, time proportional deterioration, and partial backlogging rates are used to model the inventory system. The objective is to find the optimal pricing, replenishment, and preservation t...
متن کاملInventory Pooling with Strategic Consumers: Operational and Behavioral Benefits
The practice of inventory pooling–serving two or more separate markets using a common inventory stock–is extensively studied in operations management. The operational benefits of this strategy are well known: when demand is stochastic, combining multiple markets reduces aggregate uncertainty and improves the firm’s ability to efficiently match supply and demand, increasing profit as a result. I...
متن کاملOptimal Markdown Pricing: Implications of Inventory Display Formats in the Presence of Strategic Customers
We propose a game-theoretical model of a retailer who sells a limited inventory of a product over a finite selling season by using one of two inventory display formats: Display All (DA) and Display One (DO). Under DA, the retailer displays all available units so that each arriving customer has perfect information about the actual inventory level. Under DO, the retailer displays only one unit at...
متن کاملIncorporating location, routing, and inventory decisions in a bi-objective supply chain design problem with risk-pooling
This paper considers a single-sourcing network design problem for a three-level supply chain. For the first time, a novel mathematical model is presented considering risk-pooling, the inventory existence at distribution centers (DCs) under demand uncertainty, the existence of several alternatives to transport the product between facilities, and routing of vehicles from distribution centers to c...
متن کاملDynamic Pricing Competition with Strategic Customers Under Vertical Product Differentiation
We consider dynamic pricing competition between two firms offering vertically differentiated products to strategic customers who are inter-temporal utility maximizers. Our model can be viewed as a competitive version of the classical model of Besanko and Winston (1990). We show that there exists a Markov perfect equilibrium (MPE) in mixed strategy in the game. Furthermore, we give a simple cond...
